Die Deutsche Akademie der Höheren Einsichten zu Weimar (or Die Weimarer Akademie der Höheren Einsichten/The Weimar Academy of Higher Insights) became the centre for German magic after the French closed down the University of Cologne in 1789. The books from the Bibliotheca Alba, that was part of the former University, was the foundation of the Akademie.[1]

Professor Postmartin thought that the Akademie was superior of the Folly for most of the 19th century, but that the Folly had caught up by the 1920s.[1]

The Akademie was integrated with Himmler's Ahnenerbe in the 1930s. The modern version of the Akademie is the Abteilung KDA in Meckenheim.[1]
