The Sons of Weyland (alternative spelling: Sons of Wayland) is a group of wizards located in Manchester, UK. They are blacksmiths, specialized in forging staffs.[1] Hugh Oswald's staffs, used during WWII, were manufactured by them.[2] The Sons believed that smiths were the first true practitioners. Nightingale also said the location of a smithy could always be identified due to the vestigium left at the place.[3]
The staffs made by the Sons are marked with a hammer and an anvil sigil.[4]
The Sons helped sculptor John Birnie Philip, in an unknown way, to create the statue Peace located in a park near Smithfield Market. The park is located on the spot where William Wallace and Wat Tyler were executed. A couple hundred Protestants were executed there as well, on the orders of Queen Mary. The actions of the Sons helped the place to become pacificatus.[5]
Post War Development[]
Many of the smiths had taken part in the battle of Ettersberg and subsequently killed in action or grievously wounded. Their headquarters had been destroyed by Nazi bombing right before the battle. The Folly believed that the Sons of Weyland had disbanded then. The Sons' archive along with a repository of valuable artefacts had been moved to a safe location at the start of war but stayed hidden to the Folly after the war.
Robin Goodfellow told Peter that he heard rumours that the Sons of Weyland were still active and he was sure that the archive still existed and someone had access to it. During the events of Amongst our Weapons it was revealed that the Sons of Weyland re-located to a new site near the Glossop query. The Archive has been brought there, too, protected by heavy steal doors whose magical protection had not been finished, though.
The current Grand Master is Grace Yutani.
