Richard Lewis worked for Southwark Council. He tried very hard to get Skygarden estate unlisted. He and his civil partner Phillip Orante, an American IT-millionaire, lived in Swindon. They met at a performance of Verdi’s opera Un Ballo in Maschera at the Royal Opera House.[1]

At the age of 46 he committed suicide by jumping in front of an incoming Underground train at Paddington Station. Peter Grant later deduces Lewis was compelled to commit suicide while under the influence of Seducere by the Faceless Man.[1]

He studied at Oxford University between 1985 and 1987 and had been tutored by Geoffrey Wheatcroft[2]. He was a confirmed member of the Little Crocodiles dining club.[3]
