Trivia Edit

  • Peter Grant has bought a mint 1955 Easy Geary LP for his dad for Christmas. "On Hathor?" asks Nightingale. Easy Geary has no existence outside the world created by Andrew Cartmel in his Vinyl Detective series. As Whispers Under Ground was published in 2012 and Written in Dead Wax (where Easy Geary is first mentioned) in 2016, this is a nice personal shout out.
  • Peter and Lesley go to a Goblin market in Brixton. Halfway up the stairs Peter hears Lesley gasp. Does this foreshadow Lesley's deal in Broken Homes?
  • At the Goblin market there is a reference to Jim Butcher's Dresden Files - a round of drinks is bought for the group, and requests "Mac's" - an ale in a brown bottle, from a microbrewery in the states. Peter thinks it should have been at room temperature and has a thick, nutty flavor. It is a direct reference to MacAnally's Ale from the Dresden Files  (Storm Front is the first book).

The Waterstones edition of Whispers Under Ground contains the short story The Domestic.
